Darta’s Commitment to AODA

As industry leaders in outfitting and supplying police vehicle equipment, Darta Fleet Solutions is also committed to complying with the policies and procedures outlined in the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), in addition to the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). We strive to cultivate an environment that is inclusive to all members of the community by providing quality service to our clients with disabilities when it comes to police vehicle outfitting and police vehicle equipment.

The Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA)

The AODA is a provincial law that mandates organizations to comply with standards in becoming more accessible to those with disabilities. All levels of government, non-profits, and private-sector organizations must comply with the AODA. The ultimate goal of this legislation is for the province of Ontario to become fully accessible by 2025. The standards set by the AODA assist with preventing and removing the barriers that people with disabilities face in terms of what they can do, the places they visit, and the attitudes of the service providers.

When the AODA was first established, it required all organizations to adopt a comprehensive policy on accessibility. Developing an accessibility policy allows for members to set goals, and structure their initiatives to effectively prevent or remove barriers to accessibility.

Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR)

The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) is composed of 5 standards: information and communication, employment, transportation, design of public spaces, and customer service. Each standard stipulates specific area requirements in which organizations must adhere to. Any business or organization that has at least one employee and provides goods, services, or facilities to the public are subject to IASR legislation.

The Darta Fleets Commitment

As a proudly Canadian company specializing in the installation and outfitting of police vehicle equipment, Darta Fleet Solutions realizes the importance of adhering to AODA and IASR regulations when it comes to breaking down barriers for people with disabilities. It is for this reason that we regularly review and update our Policies and Procedures in order to promote a more accessible environment.
